    Hi all! Just your friendly neighborhood design mod coming through with custom steam covers for every character in MK11. I am also planning on making steam covers for MK9, which currently does not have a proper steam grid cover at all, and MKX as well. I plan on adding more to this collection as time goes by, so check back in periodically to see if I've added more for your favorite character! The goal is to have an animated version for each character eventually too, but those take me more time to make so I still haven't finished all of them. Feel free to also share your own steam covers in this thread or request some!

    Instead of being creative we just get the same tiresome challenge each time. I do enjoy this game, but the lack of updates has made it stale, so playing 5 sets a day isn't enjoyable anymore.

    I was re-watching some MKX gameplay on youtube and what struck me was how much better/cooler/more appropriate the variation names were compared to those in MK11, especially most of the 3rd variation names which I 100% believe were half-assed by NRS (*cries in Sups OD*). Some names that immediately pop up from MKX, according to my criteria in bold, are:

    Mystic/Spectral (Ermac), Swarm Queen (D'Vorah), Slasher/Relentless (Jason), Possessed (Kenshi), Blood God (Kotal), Ethereal (Mileena), Bone Shaper/Imposter (Shinnok), Grandmaster (Sub-Zero), Crystalline (Tremor). Most of these are not just badass-sounding, but also describe the variation so well without being corny at all (Tremor's gains access to crystal-based attacks, Shinnok likewise with bone-based ones, Mileena being a slippery character because of the teleport etc).

    So it got me thinking that doing a variation name tier list for MK11 would be a fun exercise. My feeling is that, compared to MKX, MK11 does not do as good a job in giving characters badass variation names/names that actually allude to what the variation can do/both. These are the rules by which I've ranked the following. Debate as usual is welcome!

    Pretty decent: Bone Picker, Digital Soldier, Eternal, Ring Master, Dead of Winter, Blood Drive, Raijin, Soul Eater, Warlock, Next Gen, Hat Tricks, Show Stopper, Ripper, Mean Streak, Emerald Defender, Ascension, Totemic, Shaman, Seeing Double

    Bang average: Berserker, Marauder, Dark Sabbath, Locked N' Loaded, Searing Rage, Thin Ice, Avalanche, Luohan Quan, Wu Shi Legend, Thunder Wave, Grinnin' Barrett, Frost-bite, Spell Master, Buzzed, Arachnophobia, New Era, First Round KO, Burning Spectre, Lotus Fist, Risen Emperor, Upgraded, Dirtbag, Clean Cut, Fan Fare, Fearless, Jaded, Heart Pierce, Spring Cleaning, Force of Nature, Untameable, Realm Destroyer, Matoka Warrior, Ancestral Gift, Destroyer, Truth and Light, Order of Light, Hemorrhage, True Kahn

    Just no: Barking Irons, Arctic Anarchy, Dragon's Breath, Ringer, Hunker Down, Ice Machine, Shock Jock, No Holds Barred, Ratbag, Speed Demon, Spare Change, Dark Fate, Pitch Black, Born Again

    I'm aware I might have missed some names/might not get the full reference/context for some of these (e.g. Grinnin' Barret, Final Judgement, Luohan Quan, Barking Irons) so comment below if there is more to the name than meets the eye
