    Were the 3D era characters just unlucky?

    People tend to say they are forgettable, boring or planly stupid, but I wonder if it is not that they were just "born" in a bad time.

    The 2Ds have the advantage of being able to grow through the games and being made back when there was not much else going on, even Stryker who was the most hated character back then was able to get his second and third chance.

    the NRS characters were made with a newer and much more complex gameplay in mind, now you have characters beign really different from each other, with different skills that gives each of them their own unique gamestyle and strategies for the game.

    But the guys from the 3D era, were made in an era when Midway was struggling with the 3D gameplay, most characters movesets were way too generic, a fireball, a lunge attack, and perhaps a teleport and a pop up, and martial art styles that in many cases don't represent the character at all, if D'vorah would have been made back then she would just have ball-o-flies, a fire kick and a flyport and three styles choosen almost randomly, and the same could be said about almost all characters.

    So what are your thoughts.

    I don't get it. During Kabal's intro in MK11, Cassie says that all he was is a Black Dragon member back in MK9, but he was a cop. Sure, he was part of the Black Dragon prior to the events of MK9, but he was a cop during MK9. Can someone explain this to me?
