Having the villains be playable in story mode, and defeating the heroes not only balances out perspective, it makes the threat seem legit and powerful. You genuinely feared the trio of Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn and Sindel because they seemed unstoppable. For the next MK game and future NRS games (Injustice 3...), this is something that should be enacted. Having us play as antagonists to fight the heroes in story mode absolutely elevates the quality of the game's story
