    [Main Story and Aftermath Story Spoilers] What the hell happened to some of these characters?

    So I decided to replay the main story and Aftermath's story just for the hell of it, and I am once again left with more questions than answers. A ton of characters just went completely MIA and never showed up again for... essentially no reason. Some characters like Kotal Kahn, Past Johnny, and Past Sonya showed up again in Aftermath... if only to be disrespected by Shao Kahn and NR's atrocious new Sindel. So, what about these people?

    • Past Skarlet. Got her ass kicked by Kitana, never showed up again.
    • Present Skarlet. Never shows up. Last we saw of her, she was going to be tortured by Mileena in the comics. Mileena is gone, so where is she?
    • D'Vorah. Buggered off after killing Grandmaster Hasashi.
    • Past Erron Black. Got his ass kicked by Sonya Blade, never showed up again.
    • Present Erron Black. Helped Kitana save Kotal Kahn, was apparently hired by her and became fast friends with the Tarkatans, got his ass kicked by Sheeva. Never showed up again.
    • Kollector. Got his ass kicked by Kitana, then got his ass kicked by Nightwolf. Never showed up again.
    • Present Johnny Cage. Shot in the leg. Never showed up again. I guess Raiden didn't want to give him a Thunder Hand Massage.
    • Present (Revenant) Stryker. Emperor Liu Kang apparently gave him a vacation?
    • Present (Revenant) Smoke. Emperor Liu Kang apparently gave him a vacation? Why can't NR ever be consistent with the appearances of the Revenants?
    • Present (Revenant) Nightwolf. I know he showed up in Aftermath, but where was he otherwise? He didn't appear for the final battle. He never assisted Kronika in any way as far as I can tell despite claiming to be loyal to her. If Past Nightwolf gets sent to the Void, does that mean his Revenant does too? How does that even work?
    • Present (Revenant) Sindel. I know she showed up in Aftermath, but I find it hilarious that Shang Tsung outright states she never played a major role in any of the battles... SO WHAT WAS SHE DOING? GETTING HER HAIR DONE?
    • Past Kabal. Got his ass kicked by Sonya Blade. Never showed up again.
    • Noob Saibot. Got his ass kicked by Jax/Jacqui and Fujin. Never showed up again.

    Hell, I probably missed a few people. I feel NR would be better off if they accepted that not every single playable character they have needs to be involved in the story. They can't even figure out what to do with some of them, so they're just dragged off the stage when their roles are filled and we have no closure whatsoever. Some of the characters that SHOULD show up, even if just to be in the background so we know that they're there don't even do that. Stryker, Kabal, and Smoke were NOT playable in MKX, but their Revenants appeared anyway just so we could know that their existence was acknowledged. Now we don't even get that.
