Richard Epcar deserves some recognition for his portrayal of Joker in MK11. Posted: 25 Jan 2020 08:09 PM PST Being hired to provide the voice of the Joker is both a blessing and a curse. You may have the privilege of voicing one of the most iconic villains in fiction, but doing so will inevitably attract criticism from numerous fanboys. Typically, trying to separate yourself from Mark Hamill's portrayal of the Joker will result in some people complaining about how 'there will only ever be one true voice for the character'. On the other hand, trying to imitate Mark Hamill's portrayal of the Joker will sometimes result in people accusing you of giving an unoriginal performance that tries to leech off the talent of others. It's safe to say that this super villain has some of the most vocal fans out there. Richard Epcar, everyone's favourite god of thunder, has been voicing the Clown Prince of Crime in various video games for over a decade now. As is the case with countless other performances in the past, his portrayal has encouraged both fans and critics to make some passionate comments on the Internet. This was perhaps best seen when Injustice 2 revealed that the Joker would be making a return to the franchise. Possibly fuelled by the...unique character design, there were quite a few who didn't find the idea of Mr Epcar reprising his role to be particularly appealing. This made me concerned as to how people would react when it was announced that Mr Epcar would also be reprising the role for MK11. To my surprise, the people who had complained in the past remained rather quiet on the subject (maybe they were more focused on the face). However, whilst it's true that MK11 Joker hasn't received much criticism for his voice, he doesn't appear to have received much praise either. After watching the Joker exchange banter with the other fighters for over thirty minutes, I can safely say that Mr Epcar gives an incredible performance. I would actually argue that it's his best performance of the character yet. As you would expect, this version of the Joker brings sinister humour to the table, demonstrating how unhinged the guy really is. He's the only fighter I could see laughing whilst having his face torn off by Baraka. Characters like the Joker and Raiden have pretty much nothing in common, so realising that the insane laughing clown and the calm, collected god of thunder share the same voice actor makes me appreciate how talented Mr Epcar really is. It's a shame that few people seem to give his performance much notice. In a way, being glossed over by the fans is worse than being criticised. As someone who normally doesn't give much of a damn about superhero franchises, the effort that went into that crazy laugh doesn't deserve to be forgotten so easily. [link] [comments]
Thank you NRS for granting my wish in MK11 Posted: 26 Jan 2020 01:33 PM PST My first MK game was the reboot, and I would usually just button smash with cyber Sub-Zero or sektor while my brother absolutely destroyed me with Scorpion. The same happened in MKX but I started getting better. Now in MK11 I learned how to do combos and can finally win against my brother. It feels really good after many years of losing every match. The game feels much better than MKX and the story was amazing. [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Jan 2020 01:45 PM PST Honestly, the revenants feel really boring to me compared to the other undead shown. They have no new powers, no increase in strength, or anything. The revenants feel like gray mind controlled versions of their alive selves. Look at Noob Saibot, Scorpion, and even Zombie Liu Kang. Scorpion was still Hanzo, but with a burning rage and cool hellspawn powers. His vengeance made him stronger, as well. Noob Saibot looks completely different and had his ice powers replaced with ghosty shadow abilities. While not supported by any feats whatsoever and actually contradicted by Mythologies, he's said to have gotten more powerful as well. Although I don't know if he's actually killable now, so maybe he did get stronger in that regard. Zombie Liu Kang is a zombie that fights for good. Not the most interesting, but still more of a change than the revenant Liu Kang. The revenants were a huge opportunity to do something big. It might be difficult to find abilities for every single character that turned into one, but I still feel it's a bit wasted. In Mkx, they were just pale with glowing eyes. In Mk11, they're gray with matching dark outfits. Why do they have matching outfits anyway? [link] [comments] |
